Leadership And Ethics For Managers

Leadership And Ethics For Managers

Leadership And Ethics For Managers Week 3

A team’s success or failure depends on its individual members’ behaviours. Negative behaviour by one team member can be enough to derail the success of the team. Every team member or workgroup has an ethical responsibility to take one’s duties seriously. The job of the leader is to foster ethical accountability. In this unit, you will guide team development that supports a culture of ethics in the workplace.

For Part 3 of the report on ethics, create a team development plan that identifies 2–3 challenges of leading teams or workgroups in the workplace. You will discuss the following:

  • Determine if the challenges are cultural or ethical in nature.
  • Discuss each challenge and provide an example of each and the impact on both the team members and the organization.
  • Provide a solution for each challenge selected.
  • Discuss how each solution supports the culture of the organization.
Deliverable Requirements

Your development plan must be at least 5 pages in length. Be sure to cite sources using APA properly; include references and in-text citations.

A Guide to Writing A comprehensive Solution
The first challenge is a lack of trust and communication.
Culture: Nature

For example, a team member withheld critical information from the rest of the team, resulting in the project’s failure. This lack of trust and open communication generated a hostile environment among team members and hampered their ability to operate well together.

Solution:  Encourage regular team meetings that focus on and foster open communication. Encourage team members to express their thoughts and concerns in an open and polite manner. Provide opportunities for team-building activities that can assist team members to build trust and foster better connections.

Building trust and open communication foster a healthy and productive team environment that supports the organization’s overall culture. When team members feel safe sharing information and expressing their ideas, they are more likely to be engaged and dedicated to the team’s and organization’s success.

2nd Challenge: Uncertain Responsibilities
Nature: Moral

a team member

was confused of their job and responsibilities, which caused confusion and mistakes. The team’s ability to deliver quality work and meet deadlines was hampered by this lack of clarity.
Solution: Define each team member’s position and responsibilities clearly, and offer regular updates if anything changes. Encourage team members to take ownership of their work and to interact with one another on a regular basis to ensure everyone understands their roles. To assist team members in their tasks, provide chances for training and professional growth.
