They also explore strategies for mitigating crises that arise from the use of digital media. The course builds upon historic research into electronic media and includes an examination of current issues such as sexting, online harassment, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking in addition to examining positive impacts of social media such as building social groups or finding communities.
Students also examine generational differences in access to or misuse of digital media. Digital media literacy and public policy are explored, with an emphasis on positive social change.
